Time to stop AC's and shift with a termite .....!

Did you know that termite mounds have Airconditioning?

Termite mounds can be truly massive, with up to 3 million individual insects living in large nests that can reach several metres in height. the insects frequently build their moulds in tree trunks or they can be build directly onto the ground. a complex structure of chambers, shafts and insulating systems ensures that the temperature and humidity of the air supply is carefully regulated. warm, used air from the mould's lower levels rises slowly through a central chimney and flows sideways through many corridors at the top. when the air strikes the external walls, it cools and sinks back down. in , addition, fine pores in the walls ensure that gases are exchanged - with methane and carbon dioxide being expelled, while fresh oxygen enters from outside. a constant draught transports cooler air through chamber and corridors, keeping the nest at an ideal temperature.

What is deja-vu ?

Most of us have had the experience of being in a completely new situation but at the same time having a Strong feeling that we already experienced exactly the same thing at some time in the past.the feeling usually only lasts for a moment or two. scientists do not dispute that the experience of deja-vu - french for 'already seen' - exists, but unlike new agers, who believe that deja-vu experiences are fragments of memory from a previous existence, scientists consider it a kind of malfunction of the brain. how this comes about is not yet entirely clear. according to one line of research, when a person has an experience, his or her mind will search for similar experiences that have been stored in the memory archive in an area of the brain known as HIPPOCAMPUS. during this process it may be the case that, even though there is no matching memory, the brain incorrectly reports that there is. it is at this point that we feel that we have experienced something before, even though we haven't.

Is the Sun Losing Weight ???

Does the Sun get Lighter as it burns ?

The sun converts about 700 million tonnes of hydrogen into helium every second, and it actually does get lighter as it does so - or, to use the correct scientific terminology, its mass is reduced. During nuclear fusion, four hydrogen atoms are converted into a single helium atom, and one helium atom is lighter than four hydrogen atoms. the absent mass has not simply disappeared, but has been turned into energy - which can be calculated using Albert Einstein's famous formula (see the picture) . The energy generated equals the mass times the square of the speed of light. Therefore, every second, the sum slims down by 5 million tonnes. This may sound like a huge amount ,but during the life of the sun it amounts to 0.01% of its mass.
